Peace of God

Apostle Paul told believers in Jesus that the peace of God should rule in their hearts. It’s a wonderful and remarkable statement.
First, it is the peace of God – not the peace of man, not the peace of surrender, not the peace of compromise. God’s peace is both the peace He has and the peace He gives. God lives in perfect peace. He isn’t anxious or troubled about anything. Jesus gave us the gift of God’s perfect peace (John 14:27), and by faith this peace can be ours and can rule in our hearts. ~David Guzik

Woman Warrior of God...

As I’m putting on my clothes, I ask God to clothe me with His character, wrap me up in His truth, cover my heart with His righteousness, guard my mind with His salvation. And to keep me focused on the war I’m in, I spend time in His presence, praising Him for who He is (a mental reminder that He is God and bigger than any problem or pain in my life), reading His Word (and getting His advice for the day instead of the world’s) and listening for His voice (which will remind me who my commanding officer is – the King of Kings, not my fears, doubts, wounds, or regrets). ~ Cindi McMenamin

Search me O God!

“It may be significant that the word fruit is singular; Paul is not speaking of a series of fruits that would be shared around, so that one believer has one, another another. Rather he is referring to a cluster, such that all the qualities are to be manifested in each believer.” (Morris)

I need God to search me in this way. Don’t you? I am inviting God to open my heart so that I might receive the conviction of his Spirit.

Fear Not!

Do not fear: “How powerful is this word
when spoken by the Spirit of the Lord to a disconsolate heart.
To every mourner we may say, on the authority of God,
Fear not! God will plead thy cause, and redeem thy soul.” (Clarke)

Jesus, My Comfort

John 11:23-26

Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”
Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.”
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life.
Whoever believes in me,
though he die, yet shall he live,
and everyone who lives and believes in me
shall never die. Do you believe this?”

Broken in the Sight of God

“God is able to fix that which is broken so that what stands repaired is immeasurably greater than that which stood before it needed repair. Therefore, the most staggering brokenness conceivable is in reality the greatest opportunity imaginable.”

God - Our Loving Creator!

Skillfully wrought: “Hebrew embroidered; exquisitely composed of bones, and muscles, and sinews, and veins, and arteries, and other parts, all framed with such wonderful skill, that even heathens, upon the contemplation of all the parts of man’s body, and how excellently they were framed, both for beauty and use, have broken forth into pangs of admiration and adoration of the Creator of man.” (Poole)

Recollecting our past with gratitude ...

Though Zophar was wrong in understanding the cause, he did know what the cure would look like – to be able to forget your misery and remember it as the waters that have passed away. T~ Guzik's Commentary

“We remember it no more, except as a thing that has passed and gone, to be recollected with gratitude that we have been delivered from it, but not to be remembered so as to leave any scar upon our spirit, or to cause us any painful reflection whatsoever. ‘Thou shalt forget thy misery, and remember it as waters that pass away.’”  (Spurgeon)

We are in the image of God... Alleluia!

“If we are marvelously wrought upon even before we are born, what shall we say of the Lord’s dealings with us after we quit his secret workshop, and he directs our pathway through the pilgrimage of life? What shall we not say of that new birth which is even more mysterious than the first, and exhibits even more the love and wisdom of the Lord.” (Spurgeon)

Blessings during hard times....

In the last lines of Psalm 91,
God spoke personal and wonderful blessings over the one who loves and knows Him:

The blessing of His presence: I will be with him in trouble.
The blessing of His promotion: I will ... honor him.
The blessing of His prosperity: With long life I will satisfy him.
The blessing of His preservation: And show him My salvation.

Staying Positive and trusting God...

"There cannot be evil tidings to the soul which has fixed its trust in the Lord.... If tidings were to come to you today of disease, loss, bereavement, death, they could not be evil if your heart dares to maintain a fixed trust in God; for such trust robs death of its sting, and the grave its victory. I cannot understand, but I can trust Him." (Meyer)

The Lord God is my strength and my song...

'In age and feebleness extreme,
What shall a sinful worm redeem?
Jesus, my only hope thou art,
Strength of my failing flesh and heart;
O, could I catch a smile from Thee,
And drop into eternity."
~Charles Wesley

When the LORD is our strength, it means that He is our resource, He is our refuge. We look to Him for our needs and are never unsatisfied. "Nor is He here called a part or an aid of our strength, but our complete strength; for we are strong so far as He supplies us with strength." ~ Calvin

Solitude - My quiet retreat with God...

In this place and time of solitude,
know that you are in a refuge of protection and
you can trust me to cover you with my wings.
The refuge of solitude
is a place of safety.
When you are in relationship with me
you can learn to trust me
and allow me to cover you with my wings.
Enter into the refuge of my protection
and rest beneath my wings.
